So I Think I Can Dance?

How has everyone’s weekend been? Mines been busier than I expected, but it’s also been a lot of fun.
I started out my Saturday morning with a good bowl of oatmeal.

It was one package of cinnamon swirl oatmeal, green tea leaves(from one if my Bestowed boxes), a banana, and a scoop of almond butter. It had been a while since I had oatmeal, and it really hit the spot.
After I let my breakfast settle, I ran 5 miles on the treadmill while I had laundry going in the dryer. BTW, I hate doing laundry, especially at school!
After my run, I showered and made some lunch.

Egg whites with salsa, and Taiwanese rice cakes.
After lunch, my roommate and I made a Wal-Mart run before watching a couple movies with our friends.
We headed to the caf for dinner. I had some kind of seasoned chicken, cooked carrots, and Mexican rice.

The caf food is really hit or miss, but last night it was pretty decent.

After dinner we had decided to try out a ballroom dance class. One of my friends teaches it, and I had been telling her I would come for a while. Confession: I can’t dance. At all. I was really nervous going Into the class, but I ended up really enjoying it! We learned basic steps of the Waltz, Tango, and Cha-Cha. I’m really looking forward to attending more classes. I’m glad I tried something new!
The rest of the weekend was filled with fun with friends before we head back into the school week. Hope everyone had a fun weekend.

J-term Begins

With the new year comes a new semester of school. At my college, all freshman are required to take J-term. J-term is a 3 week mini semester where we can take one class. I chose to take Christian Worldview, and I’m excited to see what I learn from this course!
Along with the start of J-term comes with more swim practices! My day began at 6:00 this morning when I jumped out of bed to get ready for the first swim practice of the year! After I wrestled with my swim suit, I quickly ate a Nutrigrain waffle before heading to the pool!

I swam for an hour this morning following this set for 2100 yards:
-10×100 Free/Stroke/IM
-2×25 underwater
-300 Pull
-2×25 underwater
-10×50 Kick
-4×25 underwater
-100 cool down

After completing the set, I quickly got ready in the locker room. My class is at 9 AM, and so I was rushing in fear of being late. On my way to class I ate an individual package of trail mix.

After class I was still hungry, so I went back to my room and made some egg whites.

My class is only an hour each day, and aside from that and swim practice, I have a ton of free-time. My goal is to look for a job during this time. I need a job, so I might as well start the search when I don’t have much else to do!

After a few hours of trying to keep myself busy, I met my friends in the caf for lunch. No picture, but I was in the mood for cereal. I made myself a bowl of Cheerios with skim milk and a banana.
After a quick Wal-Mart run, I decided to do 30 minutes on the elliptical. And then I refueled with chocolate.

I got my reading done for class tomorrow, and then a few friends and I walked over to Braums for dinner. I wasn’t interested in any of the typical greasy burgers or chicken on the menu. I decided on the Fruit & Yogurt Swirl.

It contains plain yogurt, strawberries, banana, and chopped nuts. It was a good simple dinner.
Now we are sitting down to watch Dirty Dancing. I hope to get in bed by a decent time since tomorrow begins with another early swim practice. Talk to y’all tomorrow.

Where has the time gone?

 

 

 

 

 

Good Morning! Where has all this time gone? it feels like just yesterday I was moving into my college dorm room!  hate that I havn’t been available to spend time on the blog, but I’ve just been soooooo busy! It’s crazy! But I’m loving college. I’ve made a fantastc group of friends, and have made so many fun memories already! So lets pick up wth today, shall we?

Ths morning I was up bright and early to make my friends cinnamon rolls. They had been asking me for a few days, so when my roommate bought a can of them, and decided to give in. While those cooked..I did this little ab workout. I’ve got swim practice tonight, but I wanted a little something to wake me up.

The cinnamon rolls turned out great. I miss being able to cook everyday like  could back home. A few of my friends joined me in the kitchen for am early morning breakfast date.

I wasn’t really in the mood for cinnamon rolls, so I made my own healthy  breakfast whle spending tme wth my friends.

Two slices of whole grain bread with 1 Tbs. crunchy peanut butter, and a sliced banana. I have found that it is not as difficult to eat healthy in college if you make a little extra effort! And yes, I’m in college and eating off ZooPals! Who says you have to completly grow up?

I’m about to head out to my first class this morning which is Care & Prevention of Athletic Injury. We are learning how to properly tape an ankle today. I love working hands on, and not just readng from the book or listening to the professor lecture. This kind of learning keeps my attention much longer! I hope everyone else has a wonderful Thursday morning!

This Thing Called College

Some of you might be wondering where I have disappeared to lately. Well, it’s this little big thing called college! I am at the end of my 3rd week at college! While I am loving it, and embracing the the new experience, it is quite overwhelming. I have 8 classes, homework for all those classes, my new wonderful friends, and I’m in a small theatre production this semester. Oh! Did I mention that I made the swim team at my school?!?! Add two-a-days onto everything else, and you can imagine how this little blog gets pushed back into a corner for a time being. I really working on balancing everything out!

Well, now that you are all up to date lets see how my days here really go!

5:30 AM
I woke up, wrestled with my swimsuit, spent some time with Jesus, and fueled up for morning practice with a Belvita Soft Bake.

The mixed berry flavor really reminded me of a nutrigrain bar.

6:15 AM
Morning workout with the swim team. It was intense! We started with a 45 minute Insanity video, followed by a 15 minute coo down in the pool.

7:30 AM
Run into my dorm room, shower, change, and eat a quick breakfast!

I grab my backpack and am out the door once again! First class Survey of Movement at 8:20.

The actual performance is tonight, and I’m so excited at how it turned out! It’s going to be great!

And from then on I will probably fit in more studying, maybe some ice cream eating, and hopefully going to bed at a decent hour! So there you have it! I glimpse of my days at college! Hope everyone has a super day!
